Attorney Emily Dykstra

Emily grew up in Rock County and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Legal Studies. She then proceeded to receive her J.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
During her second summer of law school, Emily clerked at Nowlan Law LLP where she was privileged to work with Personal Injury Attorney Steve Caya. She officially joined the firm as an Associate Attorney after graduation.
Since joining the Personal Injury Team at Nowlan Law LLP, Emily has gained valuable experience in both the pre-litigation handling of personal injury cases, as well as the litigation process. In November 2021, Emily co-counseled a jury trial with Steve Caya in Dane County involving a trucking accident with disputed liability, which resulted in a jury award of over $1.6 million for the injured client. In January 2022, Emily again co-counseled a jury trial with Steve Caya in Dane County for an injured client, which resulted in a jury award of over $1.4 million. In addition, Emily has participated as co-counsel in many mediations resulting in seven figure settlements for injured clients.
Outside of work, Emily spends as much time with animals as possible. She presently serves as Secretary on the board of Friends of Noah Animal Rescue. She also volunteers on a weekly basis at Heartland Farm Sanctuary, in addition to caring for her own various rescued animals.
